Of all the games this past week, I think the Buffalo Bills beating the Detroit Lions right in Ford Field surprised me most. Matt Carpenter Cardinals Jersey . As the game progressed, you could see Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush were just not right but still, Detroit historically puts up points at home and the Bills held them to 14 with seven not even due to the offence. Kyle Orton was 30 for 43 with one touchdown and 308 yards. Matthew Stafford was 18 for 31 with one touchdown and only 221 yards. If you had told me that Orton would out play Stafford in productive ability, I would say no way. Doug Marrone made a good decision in starting Orton over Manuel early in the week but now they play a new and rejuvenated Patriots team. Speaking of the Patriots, I thought their first drive against Cincinnati was something else. They went with two tight ends and ran the ball between the tackles over and over again, basically sending an I am tougher than you message to Cincinnati and it set the stage for the rest of the game. Sometimes when things are going wrong, the best thing to do is challenge the teams manhood and see what happens. The majority of the time, a team responds and New England did. Now the Logan Mankins trade makes sense. Tim Wright, 6 4 230 second-year player out of Rutgers gives the Patriots what they had in aaron Hernandez to an extent. Truth is, there were four dropped passes on Tom Brady and he still ended up 23 of 35 for 292 yards. With the Bengals, they are not prime time players. Whether it is the playoffs, Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football or even Thursday Night Football, the Bengals dont rise to the notoriety of those events. Cincinnati has Cleveland in Week 10 on Thursday night and Denver on Monday night in Week 17. Maybe it is just situation and circumstances but the Bengals are better if they play at 1pm from now on. Good news, every game except for the two I mentioned is at 1pm. In New 0rleans, the Saints are far from what they were last year; or are they? Jimmy Graham left early due to a shoulder injury so their best player is out and still the Saints produced 511 yards in offence. I think the Saints turn it on in the second half of the season in a big way. A second southern team, the Dallas Cowboys won again. Thats the good news. The bad news is they play the Seahawks in Seattle this week. JJ Watt was a joy to watch and his one-on-one opportunities against Tyron Smith, Watt was the victor. Ive never seen Tyron Smith beaten clean but Watt got him twice on speed and technique. Smith is the best young offensive lineman in football and was mildly humbled from which he will learn. Watt is as good as it gets. Who does he remind me of? Dan Hampton, the former defensive tackle with the Bears. There were two milestones last week with Tom Brady going over 50,000 yards passing and Peyton Manning going over 500 touchdowns for his career. We truly are seeing the best of complete quarterback play at this moment in time and I dont know if one is better than the other in any significant degree. And Im not sure if it matters trying to determine so. I will say this though, Denver ran for 92 yards on 28 attempts while New England ran 48 times for 220 yards. A major asset for Brady are the running backs he has and uses. From Brady and Manning to Geno Smith and Micheal Vick, the statistical evidence says that the Jets are in trouble at quarterback. Smith had 27 passing yards and Micheal Vick was not much better. The Jets have no choice but to develop what they have because if there was someone else out there, he would be a Jet by now. And finally, in what is a very unusual travel schedule, the Seattle Seahawks traveled on a Saturday for a Monday night game and are flying out on a Tuesday morning instead of late Monday night or as soon as possible after the game. Its expensive to make a two-day travel trip into a four-day but the problems of going East to West, home to away has been well documented. Did it seem to work? Inconclusive. Yes, the Seahawks drove the length of the field for an opening touchdown but also self-imploded with penalties. Three Percy Harvin touchdowns being called back is inexcusable. The overall difference to me is Russell Wilson and his ability to run and be effective. He did take a couple of shots but he may be the best at sliding and protecting himself. As a former baseball player, he has that skill down. All quarterbacks should be taught by baseball players how to slide effectively for longevity. With the Redskins, Kirk Cousins may have quarterbacked a losing team but to bounce back the way he did after the Giants game on Thursday night was remarkable. He showed a lot by playing the way he did. The best game of Week 6 should be Dallas at Seattle. Adam Wainwright Jersey . With the Pirates in the thick of the race in the NL Central, the timing couldnt be better. Liriano struck out a season-high 11 in seven innings to win consecutive starts for the first time this season and Pittsburgh beat the San Francisco Giants 3-1 on Tuesday night. Andrew Miller Cardinals Jersey . He looked very comfortable Wednesday night. Konerko had a big three-run double and Gordon Beckham homered for the second straight game, leading the Chicago White Sox to an 8-3 victory over the sliding Chicago Cubs. http://www.authenticcardinalspro.com/cardinals-whitey-herzog-jersey/ . Ozuna hit Reeds 2-2 pitch off the batters eye far above the 407-foot sign in straightaway centre. It was the fifth blown save in 25 tries for Reed (1-5) and the ninth home run the closer has allowed in 38 appearances. Nuno, acquired in the deal that sent Brandon McCarthy to the New York Yankees, gave up three hits, struck out a career-high seven and walked one in seven innings.LONDON, Ont. -- The Guelph Storm want to eliminate the real possibility that the London Knights could come back to haunt them at the Memorial Cup. The Ontario Hockey League champion Storm insist theyre the ones with ample motivation to beat the host Knights on Wednesday, even though Guelph is already assured of a berth in Sundays final with a 2-0 record. Londons motivation doesnt require explanation. At 0-2, they must win the final game of the preliminary round in order to get into a tiebreaker game Thursday. If they dont, the hosts will be eliminated by the same team that knocked them out of the OHL playoffs April 11. A change to the MasterCard Memorial Cup schedule has made the improbable more possible. A day of rest between the semifinal and the final was incorporated into the tournament in 2007. Thats helped teams that have had to take the long way to the title. Twice in the last five years, a team that opened with two losses ran the table to win the Cup: the Windsor Spitfires in 2009 and the Shawinigan Cataractes in 2012. Both clubs staved off elimination in their final round-robin game, tiebreaker and semifinal en route to claiming the title. "Teams have done it and I think we have a team thats special like that and is able to achieve things like that," Knights captain Chris Tierney said. "Everyone is confident we can pull it off." Because of that extra day of rest, the bye to the final is not the nearly airtight advantage to winning the Cup it once was. Guelph doesnt want to face London on Sunday in their home rink riding the momentum of three wins in a row, including one against them. "We dont want to let these guys get back in the tournament and see them in the final if they get on a little roll here," Storm forward Zach Mitchell said. "Were going to try and put them out here. We dont want to let them hang around." The Storm relish having the upper hand against the Knights. London won the OHL championship in both 2013 and 2012, while Guelph was eliminated in the first round those years. "Back-to-back champions, you give a lot of beatings," Storm captain Matt Finn said. "The London Knights did that for a couple of years. "To be able to knock them out in the playoffs was great for us. To have a chance to knock them out of the Memorial Cup while theyre hosting is something we want to do because of the history." As explosive as the Storm are with 11 goals in two games, the Knights are also capable of pouring the puck into the net. Red Schoendienst Cardinals Jersey. London and Guelph both scored over 300 goals in the regular season. But the Knights have just two goals in two games and both were scored by defencemen. The Knights have been stopped on two penalty shots and are 0-for-8 on their power play. London has certainly had scoring chances, but havent yet recovered their touch around the net. "We looked at the first two games a little bit and we actually did outchance the teams in both games," forward Max Domi said. "It comes down to the details in terms of finishing around our own net, sharpening up our passes, making better decisions with the puck in terms of getting it in deep and being more disciplined. All that stuff kind of adds up to winning or losing hockey games." Theres also Londons unsettled goaltending situation. Anthony Stolarz was in net for the 1-0 loss to the Val-dOr Foreurs to open the tournament. He allowed three goals in two periods against the Edmonton Oil Kings, before he was replaced by Jake Patterson in a 5-2 loss. Head coach Dale Hunter had yet to inform his goalies Tuesday afternoon which would start in Wednesdays crucial game. Stolarz, a Philadelphia Flyers prospect, opened last years Memorial Cup in Saskatoon, but Patterson was in net for the semifinal loss to the eventual champion Halifax Mooseheads. Londons lineup features seven forwards from the team that both lost 2-1 in overtime to host Shawinigan in the 2012 final and suffered last years semifinal loss. "Nobody wants to feel that again," Knights defenceman Zach Bell said. "Everybody wants to be able to play some more junior hockey. They dont want to end it on a bad note." The Storm ousted the Knights in the second round of playoffs in five games. Stolarz didnt play in the series because he was serving an eight-game suspension handed down in the first round. Guelph and London were 3-3 against each other in the regular season. In seven of their 11 meetings so far this season, the winner has scored six or more goals. The Storm are comfortable in the role of villain at Budweiser Gardens and are ready to embrace that again Wednesday. "This city doesnt like us too much, especially after knocking them out in the playoffs," Finn said. "Theyre going to be looking to get one back on us. We dont want to let them back in. Theyre a team that can put the puck in the net. We need to limit their chances offensively and frustrate them." ' ' '
