Char Dham Yatra


The four pious-destinations positioned on the hillocks of Himalayas at the tranquil altitudes are popular as- 鈥楥hota Char Dham鈥?of India. These renowned Hindu pilgrimages- Yamunotri Dham, Gangotri Dham, Kedarnath Dham and Badrinath Dham are visited by thousands of visitors and devotees. Char Dham Yatra begins from the month of April May and ends in October or November Month. However, the best time to visit of Char Dham Yatra is- April and May to relish the picturesque grandeur of the environment with the pleasant weather and the climate.


These four sacred temples are dedicated to four distinct deities. Worshippers revere Goddess-Ganga in Gangotri, Goddess- Yamuna in Yamunotri while Lord Shiva is venerated in Kedarnath and in Badrinath- Lord Vishnu is worshipped. Char Dham holy shrines are located within the 鈥楪arhwal region鈥?of North-Indian states of Uttarakhand. Char Dham is considered very auspicious to visit this Char Dham Yatra at least once to get blessings from these divinities.


Char Dham Yatra : Thousands of years back, in the 8th Century, this elevated tour was introduced by renowned philosopher Adi Shankaracharya. Since then the Chota-Chardham divine expedition is getting a throng of umpteen pilgrims at these picturesque regions. Char-Dham Yatra intrinsically begins from the sacred town- Haridwar, famed as- exquisite abode (gate) to God and then to Uttarkashi for visiting Gangotri and after that Yamunotri shrine then there to Chamoli by visiting Kedarnath and proceeding to Badrinath Temple at the end.



Traditionally Chardham Yatra starts from west to east in Clockwise Direction, this means the yatra starts from Yamunotri, proceeding to Gangotri, Kedarnath and then terminates at Badrinath. All these four holy places Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri have their own Significance, Legends, Mythology, and history.




How to Reach:


It is highly spiritual and religious to start your Char-Dham Yatra with- Yamunotri and Gangotri proceeding to Kedarnath then concludes at Badrinath. Geographically, Chardham Yatra starts clockwise from west to east direction. These four devout Hindu Abodes have their own Legends, Significance, Mythology and Spiritual Importance.

Closing date: The temple closes on the day of Diwali.


Kedarnath Temple: Opening date: 29 April, 2018 at 06:15 am;


Closing date: second day after Diwali i.e. on Bhai Dooj.


Badrinath Temple: Opening date: 30 April, 2018 at 04:30 am;


Closing date: 鈥榁ijayadashami鈥?by Mandir Committee.
