Wood has more than 30 years of coaching experience at the high school, collegiate and professional levels. He had led Buffalos offense since 2011 and was 2-2 this past season when he replaced Jeff Quinn, who was fired, on interim head coach. Wood also was the head coach at James Madison from 1995-98, finishing 23-22 overall, including a trip to the FCS (then Division I-AA) playoffs in his first season.
