Winnipeg Jets 4 Detroit Red Wings 2 With the win the Jets snap a three-game losing streak and at the same time snap the Red Wings three-game win streak. For the second straight game, but only the fifth time all season, the Jets scored first. Bryan Little, with his team leading 8th goal and 12th point, gave the Jets a 1-0 lead after one, Little scored with one minute left in the period. Little has now scored five goals in the last seven games. The Jets outshot the Wings 14-9 in the first. The Jets used their speed to create a number of good scoring chances, which forced Jimmy Howard to make a number of great saves. At the other end of the ice, Al Montoya was making his third start of the season and was also very good. Detroit took a 2-1 lead in the second on goals by Henrik Zetterberg and Danny DeKeyser, DeKeysers first NHL goal. It was a shorthanded goal and came after a faceoff in the Jets zone. Montoya may have made his best save of the game in the second, stopping Darren Helm on a short-handed breakaway. The Jets kept pressing and Michael Frolik scored his third of the year tying it at two at 17:04. Frolik equaled his goal output from last year, converting a great pass from Mark Scheifele. The Jets had 17 shots on goal in the second. They added another 16 shots in the third, scoring two unanswered goals for the win. Matt Halischuk, with his first as a Jet, gave the Jets the lead at 4:27 of the third as his line with Scheifele and Frolik was again a very good trio. Halischuk goal turned out to be the game winner, the fifth of his career. Andrew Ladd (who was very good in the game) finished off the scoring seconds after coming out of the penalty box. It was his fourth of the year and first in 10 games. The secondary scoring the Jets have been looking for, came through tonight. Five Jets had multiple point games. Ladd, his 59th, Little, his 53rd, Devin Setoguchi, his 50th, Frolik, his 35th and Scheifele had his first multiple point game. The Jets ended the night with 47 shots, tying a season high. It was the first time in six games the Jets scored more than two goals in a game. Montoya finished the night with a 26 save win and has now stopped 93 of 96 shots he has faced this season. Coach Claude Noel would not confirm who his goaltender would be Wednesday in Chicago (TSN, TSN 1290) only to say they would discuss and assess. Montoya was born in Chicago and post-game would only say who starts Wednesday "is the coachs decision." This was Scheifeles best game in the NHL. He won five of nine face-offs, was a plus player, had three shots on goal and used his speed to his advantage. "The chemistry on our line is getting better every game," said Frolik post-game. Coach Noel agreed. "They were our best line last game, they have some chemistry and very reliable defensively." Olli Jokinen was the best face-off man for the Jets winning 11-of-17. Little took 25, winning 13. Blake Wheeler and Zach Bogosian led in the shots department with six each, a season high for both. The only Jet to not register a shot on goal was newcomer Keaton Ellerby. He was very solid in 10:39 of work with a couple of blocked shots. Jets played without Evander Kane, who is day to day with a lower body injury. Jets were also minus Paul Postma, Mark Stuart, Jacob Trouba and Jim Slater because of injuries, while Zach Redmond recalled from St. Johns did not dress. The Jets did not convert on any of the six power play chances but it was the best the power play has looked in quite some time, creating a number of scoring chances with good puck movement. Coach Noel liked what he saw from his team in this game right from the drop of the puck. "The first period was real good. We could have been up by a few. We managed the puck quite a bit better tonight. We got pucks to the goal line and put a lot of pressure on their defence. A lot of guys had a really good game. It was fun to watch our team play that way." Jets are in a busy stretch. In Chicago Wednesday, home to Nashville Friday and San Jose Sunday, then into Detroit for a Tuesday rematch with the Red Wings. The Braves optioned outfielder Jose Constanza to Triple-A Gwinnett. As expected, the Braves also called up right-hander Julio Teheran from Gwinnett to start Sundays game and optioned backup catcher J. Dontari Poe Jersey . The biggest collapse in franchise history was a long time ago, and he was too busy trying to make sure it didnt happen again. Stephen Curry Jersey . -- Miami Dolphins defensive co-ordinator Kevin Coyle defended the management style of coach Joe Philbin in the wake of the teams bullying scandal.WASHINGTON - Stephen Strasburg unleashed two years of pent-up playoff energy a€” and got nickel-and-dimed out of the game. The radar gun showed mostly 97s and 98s in the first inning of his much-anticipated post-season debut. There was even a 99. His fastball had lost a little bit of sizzle this season, but this was more like the rookie who dazzled the majors in 2010.It felt a lot like opening day, Strasburg said. I felt pretty strong. But the San Francisco Giants had a plan. Make contact. Manufacture a run or two. All eight of their hits against the Washington Nationals ace were singles. Six went to centre field. Two came in one inning and, aided by a poor defensive decision and a passed ball, produced a run. Three came in the next inning and produced another run.The Nationals needed something close to perfection from Strasburg because his San Diego pal Jake Peavy was spinning a masterpiece for the Giants and Washingtons bats managed only six hits all game.Instead, Strasburg was flawed just enough in Fridays 3-2 loss in the opener of the best-of-five NL Division Series.I think what were doing is were not getting too big up there, were not trying to do too much, said Giants outfielder Hunter Pence, who had one of those up-the-middle hits and later scored after reaching on a fielders choice. Were staying within ourselves. Were just doing that old game of getting people on, moving them over, and getting them in.Strasburgs final line looked decent enough: five innings, eight hits, two runs (one earned), one walk and two strikeouts. He threw 58 of his 89 pitches for strikes and was pulled after giving up back-to-back hits a€” yep, both to centre a€” to lead off the sixth.I was getting groundballs, Strasburg said. I was giving up all singles, so it wasnt like they were hitting me all around the yard. ... It was just one of those days where I felt like I made a pitch and they fought it off and hit it where we werent. The Nationals managed only two hits against Peavy and trailed 3-0 before Bryce Harper put one in the third deck to lead off the seventh against reliever Hunter Strickland. Asdrubal Cabrera followed one out later with a shot off Strickland that landed in the home bullpen. But that was it.dddddddddddd They went 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position. Ian Desmond had a particularly tough game, going hitless in four at-bats with two strikeouts and leaving six runners on base.I didnt put my best foot forward, Desmond said. Weve got some games left, and hopefully Im able to bounce back.It wont be easy. The Giants Game 2 starter Saturday is an old Nationals nemesis, Tim Hudson. In Game 3, Washington will have to go on the road and deal with Madison Bumgarner, who pitched a shutout in the wild-card game.We cant go 0-2 into San Fran, Harper said. Thats tough, so weve got to get that W tomorrow.Strasburg didnt pitch when the Nationals made the playoffs two years ago because he was shut down early, having hit an innings limit in his first full season after elbow surgery. He wasnt happy about it, and fans were left to wonder if the outcome would have been different had he been available for what turned out to be a five-game series loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.Strasburg went 14-11 this season with a 3.14 ERA and tied for the NL lead in strikeouts with 242, and there was little doubt he would get the Game 1 start vs. San Francisco. Those savvy Giants, who have two World Series titles in the last four years, werent fazed a bit.Dont try to do too much. Dont overanalyze anything, manager Bruce Bochy said. You start thinking too much against a good pitcher, you get yourself in trouble. We try to keep it simple.Strasburg showed some moxie to keep the game close. He threw seven consecutive balls to open the fifth and then hit a batter with an 0-2 pitch, but he got out of the inning by striking out Pablo Sandoval with a 97 mph fastball and getting Pence to pop out to first. He gave us a chance, Nationals first-year manager Matt Williams said. Jake was a little bit better.Strasburg isnt one to revel in the spotlight and would prefer to be treated as just another pitcher. With his playoff debut out of the way, perhaps the next one will be more normal a€” or as close to normal as the post-season can get.Im glad I was able to go out there and get my feet wet, he said. And Im excited for the next opportunity.___Follow Joseph White on Twitter: http://twitter.com/JGWhiteAPWholesale USA Soccer Jerseysdiscount uswnt jerseyWholesale AC Milan JerseysWholesale Arsenal JerseysWholesale A.S.
