Melbourne, Australia - Two-time defending champion Victoria Azarenka rolled to another straight-set victory Monday, while third- seeded former world No. 1 Maria Sharapova suffered a surprising upset in the fourth round at the Australian Open. Azarenka cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win over American Sloane Stephens on Rod Laver Arena to secure a spot in the quarterfinals with her 18th straight win at Melbourne Park. Sharapova seemed destined to advance after taking the first set from Dominika Cibulkova, but the 20th-seeded Slovakian roared back to take the final two sets and claim a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 triumph over the 2008 Aussie Open champ. The 24-year-old Cibulkova will meet Simona Halep in the quarterfinals after the 11th-seeded Romanian upended eighth-seeded Serbian Jelena Jankovic, 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 on Hisense Arena. Cibulkova will be making her first ever quarterfinal appearance at Melbourne Park, while Halep became the first Romanian to reach the quarterfinals here since Irina Spirlea in 1997. Azarenkas quarterfinal opponent will be decided later Monday when fifth- seeded Agnieszka Radwanska squares off with unseeded Spaniard Garbine Muguruza. "Just survive," Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall said. "That was not our best effort, obviously. They get a lot of credit for that. They had a great game plan. They packed it in and we didnt make any shots from the arc. It was a good strategy. Finally we made some in the second half and pulled away slowly, but give them credit. They played well." The Shockers trailed at halftime for the ninth time during their unbeaten run, though the 33-32 deficit could have been a whole lot worse the way they were shooting the ball. Wichita State was just 2 of 14 from 3-point range in the first half, most of them missing just about everything. In fact, the only shots the Shockers seemed to make outside of 3 feet were a series of free throws that Early made to keep them within striking distance. It didnt help that the Shockers were in foul trouble, too. Baker, Early and Fred VanVleet -- their top three scorers -- were on the bench with two fouls apiece late in the half. Once they returned after the break, the Shockers started to pick up steam. Early converted a three-point play with 15:47 to put them ahead 44-43, the seventh lead change in the game. Baker added a silky-smooth jumper, then knocked down his first 3 moments later as Wichita State took control and Koch Arena suddenly got rocking. Beane refused to let the Salukis wilt under the pressure. The sophomore guard kept slicing through Wichita States man-to-man defence for baskets near the rim, more than once drawing contact along the way. When the Shockers finally clamped down on him, he deftly found the open teammate for wide-open looks. Jalen Pendletons three-point play pulled the Salukis to 69-64 with 2 1/2 minutes left, but Baker answered with his third 3-pointer. The Shockers turned up the pressure and forced Sean OBrien into a turnover that led to a run-out by Baker, who was fouled and made both free throws. Still with a chance to make it a game, Southern Illinois promptly turned it over again, and this time the Salukis allowed VanVleet to go for an uncontested layup that made it 76-64. Wichita State merely had to coax the final seconds off the clock to remain undefeated. "Its cool, you know?" Early said. "But we take it game by game, day by day. I dont think were looking at an undefeated season because you have to beat the team thats in front of you." Ray Allen Jersey . Kehm gave no further details of his condition or medical outlook, saying only that he would "continue his long phase of rehabilitation." Schumacher left the Grenoble hospital Monday morning, said hospital spokeswoman Brigitte Polikar, who declined to give any details on his condition. He was transferred to the Lausanne University Hospital, near the Schumacher familys Swiss home. Hospital spokesman Darcy Christen confirmed the 45-year-old German was admitted but stressed that the facility wants "to ensure that he and his family fully enjoy privacy and medical confidentiality." Schumachers accident happened on a family vacation as Schumacher was skiing with his 14-year-old son at the Meribel ski resort in the French Alps. He hit the right side of his head on a rock, cracking his helmet. Doctors operated to remove blood clots from his brain, but some were left because they were too deeply embedded. Schumachers condition stabilized after he was placed in a drug-induced coma. In late January, doctors began the process of withdrawing sedatives to try to wake him up. Over recent months, little information has been released on Schumachers condition. Mondays announcement was the first substantial update since Kehm said in early April that Schumacher "shows moments of consciousness and awakening." The family "would like to explicitly thank all his treating doctors, nurses and therapists in Grenoble as well as the first aiders at the place of the accident, who did an excellent job in those first months," Kehms latest statement said. "The family also wishes to thank all the people who have sent Michael all the many good wishes.dddddddddddd... We are sure it helped him," it added. "For the future we ask for understanding that his further rehabilitation will take place away from the public eye," it added. Much remains unclear about Schumachers future as well as the length and extent of his recovery. "If hes been released from the hospital he was in, it means hes able to support his own breathing and bodily functions," said Dr. Tipu Aziz, a professor of neurosurgery at Oxford Universitys John Radcliffe Hospital. The fact that Schumacher is going into rehabilitation "suggests theres been long-term side effects of his injury," he added. "With rehabilitation, theyll try to train him to cope with the disabilities that hes got to achieve as much life function as possible," Aziz said. "If hes had a brain injury, he may have weakness in his limbs secondary to loss of brain function. He may have problems with speech and swallowing." He said that "rehabilitation would probably take a good few months" but noted that Schumacher was an athlete before his accident "so was in good shape." Schumacher earned universal acclaim for his uncommon and sometimes ruthless driving talent, which led to a record 91 race wins. He retired from F1 racing in 2012 after an unmatched seven world titles. The Mercedes team, for which Schumacher raced in the last three years of his career, posted on Twitter: "Encouraging news on Michaels condition this morning. We couldnt ask for a better start to the week." That was echoed by former world champion and Schumacher rival Fernando Alonso, who tweeted: "Good start of the week with the news of Michael! So happy this is going in the good direction!" Germany midfielder Lukas Podolski also took to Twitter hours before his teams opening World Cup match, writing: "What a great news!!! Get well soon Schumi!!! Im so glad and happy when I just heard it!!"
