Southeastern Conference quarterbacks take plenty of heat off the field, and this year will probably take even more on it.The league is loaded with star pass rushers, some of them highly rated NFL prospects, even if the SEC is short on established passers. The SECs top 10 pass sack leaders return. Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett, Alabama linebacker Tim Williams and defensive end Jonathan Allen, Tennessee end Derek Barnett and Mississippi end Marquis Haynes all are back after reaching double digits in sacks last season. That surplus of talented, hard-to-block edge rushers is nothing new considering the SEC has had 36 defensive linemen or linebackers selected in the first round of the NFL draft over the past decade, many of them outside linebackers and ends.So maybe Williams, Alabamas quarterback-harassing outside linebacker, can follow Von Miller, the No. 2 overall pick in 2011. Perhaps Texas A&Ms Garrett can at least come close to Jadeveon Clowneys status as the top pick two years ago.If you can do it in the SEC, you can do it anywhere, said Charles Harris, Missouris latest in a line of stellar pass rushers. Thats how I feel.Of the five sack leaders all but Williams ranked among the nations top 20 in sacks per game, and he was a specialist on a deep front seven who played limited snaps.Only played on third down, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said. Never had another role on the team.OK, few teams have that luxury. But Williams, whose role is expected to increase significantly, and Allen both opted to return for their senior seasons instead of entering the draft. At least seven SEC ends and outside linebackers have already been listed as potential first-round picks according to various mock drafts, with Barnett and Garrett pegged as candidates for the Top 10.Weve got a bunch of good d-linemen in this conference -- a lot, said Barnett.Enough of them that Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze notes the importance of a viable play action threat, because pass setting against the defensive linemen that we face in this league, its hard to make a living at that.Heres a look at some of the SECs top pass rushers:-The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Garrett has racked up 24 sacks and 33.5 tackles for loss in his first two years and was a finalist for the Lombardi and Hendricks awards. He plays opposite Daeshon Hall, whos even bigger and had seven sacks.Weve got two of the best defensive ends in the country in Myles Garrett and Daeshon Hall, Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin said at SEC media days.Garrett said they create openings for each other. Hes just as effective as me, he said.-With Allen and Williams, Alabama also has a formidable pass rushing duo. The 6-3, 291-pound Allen had 12 sacks last season, with 11 coming against ranked teams. He plays like a bullet, Tide safety Eddie Jackson said.Williams had 10.5 sacks on just 148 pass rushing snaps, according to Pro Football Focus, which said he had an average of one pressure per 2.8 pass rushing attempts. Ohio States Joey Bosa, the third overall draft pick, averaged one pressure for every 4.9 attempts, PFF said.-Barnetts 20 sacks through two seasons is just 12 shy of Reggie Whites Tennessee record set from 1980-83. He had nine sacks in the last eight games in 2015. Hes a savage when hes out on the field, Volunteers defensive coordinator Bob Shoop said.-Ole Misss Haynes tied the school record as a sophomore with 10 sacks and has 17.5 in his first two seasons.-Missouris Harris led the SEC in tackles for loss per game, racking up 18.5 in 12 outings. He follows in a line of pass rushing ends like 2015 first-rounder Shane RayCharles is one of the next great ones, in my opinion, Missouri coach Barry Odom said.--AP Sports Writer Steve Megargee contributed to this report. Cheap Juan Marichal Jersey .Y. -- Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone has drawn on his Syracuse connections once again by hiring Rob Moore to take over as receivers coach. Cheap Mel Ott Jersey . During the athletes parade, the 23-strong Ukrainian team was represented by a lone flagbearer in an apparent protest at the presence of Russian troops in Ukraines Crimean peninsula. AUBURN, Ala. -- Undersized, baby-faced and sporting floppy blond hair, Will Hastings doesnt really look the part of a Southeastern Conference receiver.Auburns converted placekicker played the part pretty well in the opener against No. 2 Clemson. He caught two balls to convert third-and-long situations and his third catch moved the chains on fourth down.He even drew a pass interference call on a second-half pass. Not bad for a 5-foot-10, 178-pounder who walked on two years ago as a kicker despite a prolific high school receiving career. Auburn tailback Kerryon Johnson doesnt think it really matters if Hastings looks the part or not.I say this to Will all the time: When you see him, no, Johnson said. If you go down to the weight room, hes got records on our board from this first summer. He has records on our board for pro agility and things like that, so hes an athlete.Dont be mistaken. Hes very quick. Hes very shifty. Hes a competitor. And the sophomore has found his way from backup kicker to part of Auburns young receiving corps, which also includes several highly rated freshmen.Hastings was one of the most prolific receivers in Arkansas High School history for Pulaski Academy -- the team that famously doesnt punt and routinely goes for onside kicks -- but only drew interest from a few of the states Division II schools. Hastings was only the states second prep receiver to gain 2,000 yards in a season.Auburn offered him a preferred walk-on spot as a kicker but his only action last season was an onside kick attempt at LSU that Auburn couldnt recover. He played a significantly bigger role in a primetime game against one of the nations top teams after an offseason position sswitch.ddddddddddddIt was a ton of fun being out there again, Hastings said. I havent played real football since my senior year in high school and it meant the world to me to finally go out there and catch a collegiate pass. That was really cool.Auburn needed some receiver, any receiver, to come through at the time. The Tigers played three quarterbacks early and Hastings came up with their initial two first downs when the offense was struggling badly.Hes got some natural things to him, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said. With a new guy you worry if the moment is too big. Obviously it wasnt and he responded pretty well in some pressure moments. Hes a real quick guy, hes a fast guy. And I thought he did a solid job.Chances are, Hastings will face increasing competition as some of the four freshman receivers develop roles alongside senior Marcus Davis. One freshman, Kyle Davis, had a 43-yard catch in the third quarter. Fellow freshman Nate Craig-Myers also played.Hastings grandfather played at Arkansas State, which visits on Saturday. He said his only scholarship offers came from three small schools in his home state: Ouachita Baptist, Henderson State and Southern Arkansas. My family, friends and my whole high school believed in me and I called Auburn a couple days before signing day, Hastings said. I did a kicking camp here before the summer going into my senior year and I called a couple days before (signing day) and said, whats going on? I kept coming to the games and they kept recruiting me.---AP College Football website www.collegefootball.ap.org ' ' '
